MFA Candidate Exhibition featuring Barry-Dutro & Tamini
This MFA candidate exhibition presents two bodies of work at Towson University’s Holtzman MFA Gallery. Erin Barry-Dutro’s *Sacred Wonder* creates a vibrant, psychedelic, playfully nostalgic world filled with everyday saints, cat ladies, and small moments of joy. Drawing on somatic healing and Barry-Dutro’s Burning Man community, the frequently collaborative work creates temporary, comfortable spaces for engaging with difficult subjects.
Annie Tamini’s *Memento Amare, Memento Mori, Memento Manducare* examines the beauty and grotesqueness of consumption and the reciprocal relationship between what is consumed and the consumer. Her paintings and installations transform brains, veins, neurons, and other organs into striking conglomerations, forming a meditation on eating, bodily rituals, and the ways nourishment satisfies both mind and body.
