Jones Falls 2076 Closing Roundtable and Ritual
The closing event for The Peale’s *Jones Falls 2076* exhibition brings together the exhibition’s curators and contributors for a roundtable discussion. The program continues with a procession to the Jones Falls and a ritual of release, marking the conclusion of the exhibition and the broader year of Jones Falls 2076 project activities.
The exhibition considers possible futures for Baltimore’s Jones Falls, the city’s historic founding river that has been concealed beneath I-83 for more than five decades. Its 14 newly commissioned speculative works imagine the river in 2076 as an unburied, restored, connected, and central ecological, social, and civic resource. The exhibition also surveys historical plans and representations of the river, from efforts to control, bury, and divert it to more recent proposals for daylighting and reclaiming the waterway. Visitors are invited to contribute their own visions through participatory design activities.
