BFMS Song Swap

BFMS Song Swap is a welcoming, informal gathering for sharing folk songs and community rather than performing for an audience. Participants take turns around the circle and may lead a song, sing along, hum, listen, or add accompaniment. Chorus-based songs and repeated refrains are especially encouraged, and attendees who are nervous about leading are welcome to simply join in. Bring one or two folk-genre songs, along with lyrics if helpful.

The gathering is held in person at Four Hour Day Lutherie and is designed to be friendly and low-pressure, with no microphone and no formal performance setup. The broader BFMS song-swap community has also connected with participants across the country and internationally through Zoom.

Donations: A pass-the-hat goodwill contribution is welcome.

Format: Participants share songs in a circle. You may lead a song, sing along, listen, hum, or accompany others.

What to Bring: Bring a favorite folk song or two, and bring lyrics if you need them.

Performance Policy: There is no microphone, no pressure to perform, and no audition or formal concert presentation.

Health Note: Do not attend if you are sick or feeling unwell. Attendees are asked to be considerate of others and mindful of precautions that help limit the spread of illness. Vaccination and mask requirements are not currently in effect.
