Lolita
Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov’s controversial novel follows a charming yet predatory father figure and the girl under his control. The film’s treatment of taboo sexuality was shaped by the restrictions of its era, allowing disturbing implications to pass beneath the surface through James Mason’s charismatic performance.
Peter Sellers nearly dominates the film as Mason’s rival, adding an unpredictable comic presence to Kubrick’s unsettling drama. A trailer is available on the event page.
