Arbouretum, Stinking Lizaveta, Deathbird Earth, Darsombra Sol
Arbouretum, Stinking Lizaveta, Deathbird Earth, and Darsombra Sol bring four distinct takes on heavy, atmospheric, and experimental music to Ottobar. Baltimore’s Arbouretum blends mystic folk-rock with English folk, country blues, Americana, and 1970s psychedelia, shaping vivid stories through classic song forms, evocative lyrics, and intricate melodies.
The bill also features Philadelphia instrumental-rock trio Stinking Lizaveta, whose tightly composed music draws from jazz, classical, punk, and Greek music. The group has been touring for more than three decades and is supporting its tenth release, *Cassandra, Prophet of Doom*. Philadelphia duo Deathbird Earth contributes science-fiction-themed songs built from heavy drums, distorted bass, synthesizers, shouted vocals, and delay. Closing the lineup, Darsombra Sol presents Brian Daniloski performing solo with visuals by Ann Everton, revisiting and reworking music from Darsombra’s 2007–2013 Nymphaea/Climax Community period. The performance is framed as a tribute, ritual, and celebration, and as the latest incarnation of Darsombra’s “trans-apocalyptic galaxy rock.”
