The Art Gray Noizz Quintet, Genre is Death, Sexfaces, Credit
The Art Gray Noizz Quintet brings a chaotic, cinematic blend of New York noise, Seattle grunge, and Australian swamp rock to Ottobar. Led by Australian guitarist Stu-Art Gray, also known as Stu Spasm of Lubricated Goat, Crunt, and The Beasts of Bourbon, the group draws on a long history in underground rock and experimental music.
The lineup features Skeleton Boy of Woman on two-string bass, saxophonist Nikki D’Agostino, and Rich Hutchins of Live Skull on drums. The second-guitar position rotates among different performers, each adding a distinct specialty ranging from twang to treble to atmospheric textures. The band has shared stages with The Scientists, Unsane, Kid Congo Powers, and Mudhoney, and later collaborated with no-wave artist Lydia Lunch after she invited the group to join her onstage. Their collaboration resulted in a two-fisted 10-inch single released by In the Red Records.
